We are please to announce that our Academy has been chosen to be part of an exciting new project to encourage children and families to walk to school. This project starts on Monday 20 January and will last until the end of the academic year.

The project is being delivered by Living Streets, in partnership with Bristol City Council and funded by the Department of Transport.

As part of the project, we will be taking part in WOW – the year-round walk to school challenge. WOW rewards children who walk to school at least once a week with a collectible badge each month. There are 11 badges to collect across the year and daily journeys are logged by pupils on our interactive Travel Tracker accessed through the school’s computer or whiteboard. If your family already cycles or scoots to school, these will count towards earning a WOW badge!

Why walk to school?

Our Academy is taking part because of the many benefits we believe it will bring to our children and the community. Walking to school helps children feel happier and healthier and even do better in class because they arrive refreshed, fit and ready to learn. More families walking means less cars on the road during the school run, helping to reduce congestion and pollution at the school gates.
