Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community

The Orchard

The Orchard at Oasis Academy New Oak welcomes up to 28 students with an EHCP and a diagnoises who have Autism.  The students are supported across four classes: Blueberries, Strawberries, Apples and Pears. The children have an environment divided into two classes according to age and ability although small groups for English and Maths allow for more specialised teaching as required.  In addition to the normal classroom equipment, both rooms are equipped with individual work bays where students can work independently. The Base also benefits from external space, a sensory room and a calming room as well as private toilet facilities.

Some students in The Orchard access inclusion in mainstream classes but all participate fully in Academy life through playtimes, assemblies, trips and residential camps.

Pupils who have high levels of special educational needs make strong progress because of the quality of support they receive. Pupils receive bespoke support both in the separate hearing and autism units and in mainstream classes.
